Chain of Command

Cadet Chain of Command

Principles to Remember

  1. The chain of command is the order of authority. It links the most junior cadet with every leader in CAP, all the way up to the national commander. While teamwork is important, the chain of command is based on the belief that final responsibility for getting the job done ought to be assigned to a single individual. Meanwhile, it reinforces the idea that everyone is accountable to another leader.

  2. The chain functions best when people resolve issues at the lowest possible level.

  3. The chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

  4. All chains of command will look different and work differently depending on the individuals making up the chain. The important part is that the job gets done, so make do with what you have.
